Well, I’m quite familiar with hospital emergency rooms now, and I’m sure the Sisters of Mercy, who run Mercy Hospital, will be sending my family Christmas cards for years to come. But now that we’ve got the family medical problems sorted out, I actually have a backlog of interesting historical speculations to post, many of them written in hospital waiting rooms. They’ll be coming thick and fast over the next few days. My apologies for the long wait.
